The Continuing Legacy: A Thousand Years of Prague Jewry

In 1983 and 1984 an historic exhibition of cultural and religious Jewish artifacts toured major cities in the United States. Entitled “The Precious Legacy”, this exhibition brought to this country many important objects of the State Museum of Prague, which houses one of the largest and most significant collections of Judaica in the world. For over one thousand years the Jewish communities of Bohemia and Moravia the northern provinces of Czechoslovakia, flourished. Prague one of the oldest Jewish cities in Europe served as its political economic cultural and religious center.
