Orthodox Response to the Enlightenment

The study of scientific Judaism created a challenge for Orthodox Judaism in Germany in the second half of the nineteenth century. This lecture will present three different rabbinic responses to this challenge; the approach of Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch, the response of the members of the Hildesheimer Seminary inn Berlin and the reaction of Rabbi Abraham Isaac Hakohen Kook.
